Your agreement

[Legal operator name to be confirmed] operates Potluck from Malta. Contact address: [Malta business/contact address to be confirmed]. Email: help@letspotluck.app.

These Terms govern Potluck’s community app-testing service. Organisation representatives must have authority to act for their organisation. The Privacy Notice explains data processing separately. Accepting these Terms does not consent to advertising or all processing.

Accounts and app claims

Keep your credentials secure and use an email you can access. Do not impersonate people, manipulate ratings/credits, or use Potluck unlawfully. New members can keep up to two projects during the alpha; existing projects above that allowance remain accessible. Known disposable email providers are not supported for new accounts. Contact the operator if a domain was blocked incorrectly. Do not create multiple accounts to review your own work, collect credits, or coordinate fake reviews. Email verification confirms control of the address, not authorship of an app.

An app destination can currently be claimed by one project at a time. We do not automatically verify app ownership. Only add apps/content you are authorised to use; contact us about conflicting claims. Future sharing features are not promised.

Requests, feedback, and content

Authors must describe focused tasks honestly and provide lawful access. Do not include production secrets, real customer data, or unnecessary sensitive personal information. Reviewers must try the task themselves and give specific, original feedback. Do not invent findings, copy reviews, or manipulate ratings.

The current format estimates about ten minutes per review. Authors can use written-answer or 1–10 rating questions and omit the standard overall rating. Scores are opinions about the tested experience, not professional certification or guarantees.

Publishing shares an app/brief snapshot with members even if the saved app is private. Apps set to All members are also summarised on public pages by default, including their icon and first screenshot, where search engines and visitors can copy them. You can turn this off for each app in Edit app, and those copies can outlast turning it off. Apps set to Only you are never shown publicly. App links, testing questions, other screenshots, full profiles and feedback remain member-only. Submitted feedback goes to the author; drafts stay private. Operators can examine relevant submitted feedback and dispute evidence to investigate completion issues or suspected credit abuse. Unfinished private drafts are excluded from the abuse investigation tools. You retain ownership of your content and give the operator limited permission to host, copy, display, and process it for these features, not to sell it.

External apps have their own operators and terms. Use safe test accounts and stop if a task requests unlawful access, unsafe conduct, unnecessary personal data, or undisclosed spending. Report the issue rather than completing the task.

Messages and following creators

Use review conversations to clarify the task or discuss feedback. They do not extend deadlines, replace submissions or formal disputes, or make payment conditional on a positive review. Respect contact choices and blocks; do not harass participants or use chat for unrelated unsolicited promotion.

Creator profiles are member-only and opt-in. You choose which eligible apps appear and can reorder them. Release dates are your own declarations, not verified certifications. Following a creator can generate optional new-app notifications; re-engagement campaigns require a separate inbox opt-in. Known URL identities do not count as fresh publications merely because an app was edited, deleted and re-added, or placed in another testing round.

Credits and deadlines

Credits are internal service units, not cash, deposits, transferable currency, or a promise of cash redemption. New fixed-format reviews cost five credits: four go to the reviewer and one leaves circulation. Existing alpha requests retain the prices displayed on them.

New requests reserve five credits only when a reviewer claims a place. You may set an optional maximum accepted-review count or keep collecting, with up to three reviews in progress at once. Enabled requests share your available credits. New claims wait when your balance cannot cover a review and become available again when credits arrive, unless you pause or close the request or reach its review goal. Existing prepaid requests retain their reserved budgets unless you explicitly switch to ongoing funding; that switch returns unclaimed funds and preserves current review commitments. New claims reserve a place for 24 hours. After submission the author has 72 hours to accept or raise a specific completion dispute. Otherwise credits settle automatically. Critical opinions and low scores alone are not completion failures. Closing returns unused reservations after outstanding reviews/disputes are handled.

New accounts start with no credits. You earn credits when another member accepts your review. The operator may add credits to a specific account, for example to fund the first requests when the service launches; each grant is recorded with a reason that the member can read in Credits. If credit packs are offered for sale, the price is shown before you pay and Stripe handles payment on its hosted Checkout page; we do not see or store your card details. Purchased credits are added once Stripe confirms the payment. A full refund or a chargeback removes that pack’s credits; if they were already used, your available balance can become negative and future earnings offset it. Simulated local packs charge no money. Before charging for credits we must provide applicable prices, payment terms, consumer information, and withdrawal/refund arrangements. These Terms do not waive mandatory rights.

An independent operator may revoke a specific starter grant or review award after establishing abuse, with a recorded explanation visible in Credits. Contact the operator to request review; an incorrect revocation can be restored. Corrections do not refund the requesting author or release reserved review budgets. If the credits were already used, the available balance can become negative and future earnings offset it before new requests can be funded. This is an internal credit adjustment, not a cash debt.

Reports and fair moderation

Do not post illegal content, malware, infringement, harassment, deceptive tasks, personal data without a lawful reason, or spam. Do not seek unauthorised access or interfere with accounts. Report unlawful/infringing content using the operator contact, including its URL, your reasons, and contact details. We may request proportionate information needed to assess it.

We may restrict content or accounts where proportionate to address breaches, legal obligations, or immediate security risks. Operators decide completion disputes using the required task and submitted evidence. There is no automated opinion-based content moderation in this version. Where appropriate and legally required, we explain decisions and how to request review; urgent protective action may happen first. Mandatory procedural rights remain available.

Suggestions use availability, categories/platforms, stated interests, and whether an app has accepted reviews. Directory sorting is changeable. There is no paid placement in this version.

Ending use and changes

You can stop using Potluck and request closure/erasure in Settings → Privacy or by contacting the operator. Requests are reviewed so outstanding reviews, settlements, lawful retention exceptions, and other members’ rights can be addressed.

Material changes are communicated in advance where required. Changes do not silently alter existing request prices or remove mandatory rights. If fresh agreement is needed, we ask you to accept the new version. An earlier acceptance is not evidence of acceptance of every future version.

Responsibility and applicable law

Feedback can be incomplete; external apps can fail. We do not guarantee that testing detects every problem or that an external app is safe. Participants remain responsible for their lawful conduct/content.

Nothing here excludes liability, remedies, or mandatory consumer, data-protection, or digital-service rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Alpha status does not waive them.

Maltese law applies, subject to mandatory consumer protections in a consumer’s country of residence. This does not deprive EU consumers of courts or remedies they are entitled to use. Relevant authorities include MCCAA for Maltese consumer matters and IDPC for data protection.
